Johnny Eastoe, the star of The Challenge, shockingly revealed on Wednesday that the show’s explosive material was heavily edited out in order to maintain a PG rating.
The 32-year-old ex-Survivor contestant claimed that what Channel Ten aired was much more subdued than what actually happened on set.
“There were arguments, almost punch-ones, and people who wouldn’t even speak to each other.” He told Yahoo that none of that had been displayed.
Johnny Eastoe claimed that what actually transpired in the background would have made for more interesting viewing.
His allegations follow The Challenge’s record-breakingly poor premiere earlier this month.
Only 257,000 metro viewers watched the series in the overnight ratings.
It follows the harsh derision of the network’s casting choices for the challenging game show.
Celebrities and athletes play in a series of elimination games on The Challenge, which is based on a US concept.
But after Channel 10 touted the ensemble as “Australia’s most talked-about celebrities,” viewers attacked the cast on social media before the show’s launch.
Who are Australia’s most-discussed celebrities? 95% of these people are who? Tweeted one.
